Corporate Safety

A.D. Willis Company is committed to the safety of our employees, our customers, and anyone in or around an A.D. Willis Company construction project. Construction by nature is a hazardous business. We recognize this and have developed and implemented a comprehensive, in-house safety program. In keeping with the ever-changing needs of the construction industry, we utilize this safety program in our daily activities to ensure the safety of our employees and others affected by our work.

A.D. Willis Company's safety program includes the Standard Training and Orientation Program (S.T.O.P.) and the Hazard Communication program. These are used in the initial training of every construction worker. Our 10-hour and 30-hour O.S.H.A. Construction Outreach programs are used to thoroughly train all management and supervisory personnel. In addition, these manuals are available at every jobsite and are used frequently to further train and prepare our labor force in safe construction practices.

Safety meetings called Toolbox Safety Meetings are held weekly at the job site during which supervisory personnel discuss safety topics specific to the job. These meetings ensure that each member of the construction team makes safety a top priority. A.D. Willis Company's safety program is designed to adapt to various types of products and equipment. Material Safety Data Sheets are available at the job site so all personnel can be well informed as to the potential dangers and safety measures recommended for the use of each product.

Safety responsibility starts with each worker, continues with the foreman and/or project manager, and is overseen by the safety coordinator. The safety coordinator is responsible for the implementation of the company safety program, and works in conjunction with our insurance carriers, supervising job site safety and conducting job site safety inspections. Our safety coordinator also prepares various reports to comply with regulatory procedures and restrictions.

The project foremen are responsible for the “middle management” implementation of A.D. Willis Company's safety program and work in conjunction with the safety coordinator. In the event of an accident on the job site, our foremen are trained in rendering first aid and C.P.R. However, we believe it is due to our well-established and strictly enforced safety training programs that we have been able to minimize the number of accidents on our job sites. A.D. Willis Company places safety as top priority at each and every job site.

Another safety initiative adopted by A.D. Willis Company is prohibiting our employees from using their cell phones while driving. Employees may talk on their cell phones when driving, if they use a hands free device; however, texting, email and surfing the internet are strictly prohibited. Employees must park their vehicle in a lawfully-designated area before utilizing these services.

Our policy is to provide a drug-free work place for the employees of the A.D. Willis Company. To maintain the highest professional standards of the company’s workforce, we use pre-employment drug screening for all applicants, random testing and mandatory testing in the event of an accident. We do it all to ensure the safest work environment.
